The main restaurant, Thatches, serves buffet style world cuisine and caters for breakfast and dinner. Several themed live-cooking stations offer the freshest Creole, Mauritian and Indian food prepared right in front of you. The kids will love the special chilled dessert and ice-cream bars. Other lunch and dinner options include the rustic Paul & Virginie eatery on the beach, with its wonderful selection of fresh local seafood dishes. Otherwise make your way to Citronella for a wholesome Mediterranean menu, along with seaside vistas and a cordial atmosphere. There is a myriad of things to keep the active family occupied at La Pirogue. Hit the warm tropical waters for some kayaking, laser-sailing, snorkelling, windsurfing, sailing and tons more. Otherwise back on shore you can partake in some fun in the sun with tennis (7 floodlit courts), handball, basketball, volleyball, mini-golf, aerobics and yoga, to name but a few. For the more adventurous guests there are various activities for account, including scuba diving (PADI), parasailing, submarine dives, mountain biking, horse riding and lots more.



Golfing in Mauritius is incredible. Of the many perfectly manicured courses available across Mauritius, guests have preferential access to the pick of these, the highly unique Ile Aux Cerf Golf Course. Claimed by the Dutch in the year 1598, and occupied by the French between 1715 and 1810, Mauritius was ruled by Great Britain from 1814 after the Treaty of Paris. The island gained independence from Britain in 1968 and became a Republic in 1992.




Due to its multicultural diversity, Mauritius boasts a number of spoken languages. The majority of the population is bilingual, fluent in both English and French. Creole and French are the main languages of the island.




Diverse ethnic groups make up the population of Mauritius. Immigrants, originally from Africa, India, France, Great Britain and China brought along their cultures, languages, values and traditions when they settled on the island. The various ethnicities live alongside one another making Mauritius a harmonious multicultural nation.




The island is blessed with a tropical climate. Summer is from November to May, during this period the temperature varies between 22 °C and 35 °C. Winter is from May to November with a temperature variance between 17 °C and 26 °C. The sea temperature varies between 22 °C and 26 °C.
